Ratatouille (Rat A Too Ee) - Kitchen Chaos Playset
From Mattel

Inspired by the upcoming Disney/Pixar movie, Ratatouille, this assortment includes two, 2-story playsets. The highly detailed kitchen world and sewer world playsets each have several exciting moving features and one rat figure. The two sets, sold separately, can be stacked to create a giant 4-story play environment!

Two boys' review: A playset that plays more like an accessory2
Pleased with our first playset purchase -- Mattel Matchbox 360 Pop-Up Pirate Island (see my review) -- we bought the Ratatouille Kitchen Chaos Playset.

So, why the low ratings for Ratatouille?

1. The playset doesn't offer much to do. There aren't many accessories, certainly not enough to pretend cooking, which we thought was the point of a kitchen playset. You get a couple pots and ladles but nothing to put inside the pots.

2. The playset needs to include more characters. You get Remy the rat. That's it. So, you playtime consists of Remy wandering around an empty kitchen (no food) and nobody else around.

A playset should include enough items to make it fun by itself. This is actually a Ratatoille accessory. If you own a lot of the other movie-related toys, you'll enjoy this toy more.

Cute but too small.3
My kids love the Ratatouille movie and characters. They do like the toy....or the idea of it - i.e. the toy has a fun concept, it was just not very well executed. The pieces and parts are quite small (even for small hands) and it only comes with two characters (Remy and his dad, Django). I do not believe there are other figures available that would work with this set, again, due to the small scale. It's unfortunate because it could be a great toy but, really, it's just okay.
